Success Story: Grant Davenport

Q: Can you describe your career path and what led you to become an insurance agent at FUA?

I got into insurance through a family friend, and after a few years of working for someone else, I made the decision to work for myself. I had a Farm Bureau office before joining FUA, which I’ve been at for 6 years now.

Q: What attracted you to the idea of running your own local FUA business?

It was really the set up that FUA presented to me – the earning potential and the way that the commission structures were aligned, but also the help from the state office – from some of the contracting to the busy work end of things that was taken off our plate. I am also in my hometown, so I felt that it was a good opportunity to establish connections for quotes and referral networks.

Q: How has being an agent at FUA helped you achieve your personal and professional goals?

FUA is there to help you – there’s help, but there’s not pressure. We have the freedom to operate our office as we see fit, from marketing to staff to how we set up our day-to-day office. FUA has helped me get my name established within the community and insurance world, and they also have helped me make connections with the underwriters and support staff of all the insurance companies.

Q: What sets FUA apart from other insurance agencies or companies you’ve worked with in the past?

You are on a first-name basis with pretty much everyone you are working with – I can say that is absolutely different than other carriers I’ve worked with before where you’re just calling a 1-800 number to try to get help on something.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with clients and providing insurance solutions?

I do not see myself as a salesperson. I see myself as a problem solver. If someone needs home insurance, I can fill that need for them. I look at every client’s situation as this big set of puzzle pieces, and I bring it all together with the products and coverages and prices that fit for them. At the end of the day, we put that puzzle together and they’re happy, and I’m happy, and we can move forward with confidence that if something happens, they’re in a good spot.
